Artist statement

1980-
The artist lives in the small town they grew up in- in rural South Eastern, New
Brunswick. They have explored many art forms over time, currently fascinated with oil
as their medium of choice. Their night photography has been featured in local
businesses, spas, offices, and Elgin Country Market. Creating has been a huge part of
the recovery process as they grappled with extensive trauma. Colour, vibrancy, wild
spaces, movement and flow are key themes in their current work.
Where Water Wanders, as a body of work, primarily features the Fundy region that are
far removed from most peoples’ experiences. These places make the artist’s heart soar.
Wild spaces, where one can walk for a whole day and not meet another human. In
these places it is easier to find breath, rhythm, feel wholly alive, and weightless. The
use of colour and flowing brush strokes embodies the feelings they seek in wild spaces
and in turn share with viewers. The artist’s current work features colour, vibrancy, and
life that has begun to blossom from the hard work done during recovery and dark nights
of the soul navigating her health.
The artist’s decades long love affair with wild spaces hopes to be poignantly evident as
the viewer is transported to places virtually void of human affects and remote enough to
not have cellular reception. There are also messages, words, and figures hidden within
the vibrant images. The use of vivid colours reflect the artist feelings when they are in
places full of life and untainted by human exposure, particularly their garbage-literal and
figuratively.

Art exhibits they’ve participated in are: Dieppe Public Library, Saint John Art Center,
Chocolate River Station in Riverview, Bouctouche Farmer’s Market, Moncton Public
Library, Peter Salmon Art Center. In August 2026 they will be featured at the Dieppe
Cultural Center for the Arts.
Their favorite days are spent outdoors exploring with their three dogs (Luna, Ivy and
Maude), partner Craig and adult children E & N and their partners L & J.
