Guest Services Volunteer
The Saint John Arts Centre is looking for friendly, welcoming volunteers to help create a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Guest Services Volunteers greet visitors at the front desk, share information about our current exhibitions and artists, help visitors navigate the Arts Centre, and introduce them to our workshops, events, and other programming. Volunteers also answer incoming calls, take messages, and redirect inquiries to the appropriate staff member. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, learning about the arts, and being part of a vibrant community arts organization.
Position Responsibilities
- Greeting visitors
- Sharing information about our current exhibitions and artists
- Helping visitors navigate the Arts Centre
- Introduce visitors to our workshops, events, and other programming
- Answering incoming phone calls, taking messages, and redirecting calls
- Conducting Tours
Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers will gain experience in customer service, communication, and working in a busy public-facing arts environment. They will learn more about local artists, exhibitions, and arts programming while developing skills in welcoming diverse audiences, answering questions, problem-solving, and working as part of a team. Volunteers will also gain a deeper understanding of how a community arts centre operates and make meaningful connections with artists, staff, and visitors.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
There are several times throughout the year when the Saint John Arts Centre needs help with outreach positions. Mainly tending our booth/table at various craft markets. As well as volunteers for our annual fundraiser which takes place in April.
