The world is filled with breathtaking moments—fleeting, often unnoticed, yet full of beauty. My exhibit, Through Young Eyes, is a collection of these moments as I have seen and experienced them. Each painting stands alone in subject, medium, and technique, yet they are all bound together by their raw, original beauty. I want viewers to see the world as I do—to feel the presence of these places, to appreciate their simplicity, and to be reminded that beauty exists all around us.

Every piece in this collection is inspired by a real place I have visited, whether in my home country or during my travels across thirteen countries. Some paintings hold personal memories, while others serve as a permanent capture of nature’s untouched brilliance. My goal is not to impose deep interpretations but to offer a direct experience, as though the viewer is standing in that very scene.

My journey as an artist has evolved with my experiences. I began with acrylics, focusing on single subjects against blank backgrounds. But as I traveled and saw more of the world, my art grew in complexity—more details, richer techniques, and new mediums. Eventually, I found myself returning to my roots in drawing, rediscovering the depth and contrast of graphite and charcoal. I embrace experimentation, letting each piece develop naturally, whether through bold strokes of paint or the soft precision of a pencil.

Through Young Eyes is an invitation to pause and truly see the world—to appreciate the beauty in its purest form, just as I do.

Biography

Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Adrienne Hemmings has been an artist for as long as she can remember. From childhood sketches on birthday cards to lifelike portraits in middle school, her artistic journey has been one of continuous exploration. With no formal training, she has developed her skills independently, working with whatever materials are available—whether it be pencil, acrylic, oil, or watercolor.

Specializing in realism, she strives to capture the world exactly as it is, finding beauty in natural scenes, fleeting moments, and familiar faces. Some of her works preserve memories, recreating images with precision and care. Inspired by Renaissance painters and their attention to detail, she aims to bring the same depth and richness to her own work.

This exhibit reflects the world through her eyes—what she finds beautiful in life, from landscapes to people and everyday moments. At just 18 years old, she has already traveled to 13 countries, experiences that continue to shape her artistic vision. Though she plans to pursue a career in engineering, painting will always remain a passion and a way to connect with others. Through her art, she hopes to inspire people to appreciate and love the world around them just a little more.
